We’re in Hawaii with a group enjoying a respite from the Midwestern winter. Surfing was invented thousands of years ago by Polynesians who settled in Hawaii. It’s hard to imagine when Jesus walked the earth someone might have been “hanging 10” In Hawaii.
Of course surfers always want to catch the “big wave”. I just saw a video of the "fall of the year" according to USA today. It occured in an area called "Jaws" on the north shore of Maui. A 40 foot fall on a 60 foot wave - that's right I said 60 foot. We were by Jaws the day after it occured.
It I was watching a PGA golf tournament in Hawaii one time on television, and witnessed storms with horrendous winds and huge waves. I’m really praying for the perfect weather Hawaii has a reputation for on our trip there this winter.
When the storms of life hit, It’s comforting to know that our God controls the roaring seas.
Psalm 65:7 “You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations.”
Matthew 8:26-27 “ Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!
